Team Bonding

With the football season upon us and Hurricane Irene visiting this past weekend, help was needed to put up the windscreens at Alumni Stadium.

The softball team very graciously volunteered to help and were out there this afternoon.  I took a few quick photos of them - it was a great time for everyone to catch up from summer break and for the newcomers to get use to everyone off of the field.

This fence wouldn't be bare once the softball girls got to it!

 Apparently this form  worked best?

You can't really tell from this picture, but senior Jordan Reid (green shirt and jeans) was holding and handing out the zip-ties.  I guess when you're the reigning MEAC Player of the Year (for 2010 and 2011!) you don't have to do the dirty work. :-)

 Windscreens look great!

I know Coach Janice got some more photos and video, so she'll post them when she gets a chance.

Hello!

Welcome to the 'new' Delaware State University softball blog!  In the future, we will have posts from players, coaches, and support staff in addition to audio, pictures, video and a whole lot more as we take you behind the scenes with DSU Softball.

First, some introductions.  My name is Maggie and I am the Sports Information Director at DSU and the main contact for Hornet softball.  I have just recently joined the DSU family as I have been in Dover for almost five months now.  I started with a few games left in the 2011 softball season, so I've already had opportunities to be around the girls and coaches - they are a GREAT group to be with.  I'm very excited to work more with them and become acquainted with new faces.  Don't be shy - I love meeting new people!  (And I'm new to Delaware, so if you have any tips for me, let me know!)

I've been working with associate head coach Janice Savage on all kinds of new social media ventures, so I know she'll be joining us on the blog at various points throughout the year.  Hopefully we can also get head coach Jeff Savage to post a few times :-)

I know Coach Janice has a bunch of the girls lined up to blog, so once they join us, we'll introduce them some more.

I'd also love to get some posts from administration, academics, strength and conditioning, sports medicine, etc.  Everyone is extremely busy, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to get them, so you might just be stuck with me as blogging is a part of my job!

The purpose of this blog is to connect the team with family, friends, alumni and fans.  We've already gotten great feedback from players and they are excited to start this venture.

If you have any questions, comments, feedback or suggestions, I would love to hear them!   Either leave a comment on the blog, or feel free to contact me at mhayon@desu.edu or (302) 857-6239.

Go Hornets!

We're back!

As you can tell, we started a blog a few years ago and were never able to keep up. But, guess what, we're back! In an effort to connect with players, family, fans, alumni, etc. we're taking over the social media world! Currently you can follow us on twitter (@DelStSB) and we're looking into getting a Facebook page, Ustream/YouTube accounts and more! Check back for all the happenings with Delaware State University softball!
