This weekend: South Carolina softball!

Terry field (Rock Hill, SC), pictured above: The Winthrop Softball complex features four fields and a state of the art press box that contains three coaches offices, restrooms, a concession stand and storage room. Terry Field was dedicated in 2001 and has 300 seats with 100 chairback seats. In 2003, an indoor hitting and throwing facility was added to the already beautiful complex. The facility includes locker rooms, restrooms, indoor batting cages and an indoor field.

PREVIEW: The Winthrop Eagles are playing a challenging schedule this year. Their opponents feature three teams ranked in the Top 25 poll and 10 opponents that finished in the Top 100 RPI in 2012; four finished with 40 or more wins last year and 11 recorded 30 or more wins... The Georgia Bulldog s are ranked #24 in the nation. The team has eight players returning from last year’s team that advanced to the NCAA Knoxville Super Regional... The Harvard Crimson are the defending Ivy League champions for the past two years... The Western Illinois Fighting Leathernecks return 13 letter winners from last year and after two 2013 tournaments played so far, the team is 2- 5... The Kent State Golden Flashes have an experience pitching staff, five starting position players from last season, and a ten-player freshman class with team high hopes of sitting atop their conference standings by year's end.
