Hornets drop first game,
two more contests tomorrow

The Hampton University Pirates had their bats alive to score 6 runs (5 earned) in the early innings of the MEAC opener for the Delaware State Hornets. That was enough to pick up the 6-2 win.

The Hornets did have their moments.

Jessica Madrid, 2-for-4, extended her hitting streak to 13 games. Cleanup hitter Rochelle Sablay batted 1-for-3 with 2 RBI and now has her own 4 game hitting streak in progress.

Nicole Gazzolla, 1-for-3, swiped her team-leading 9th base. Jennifer Fischbach delivered with a double for a 1-for-2 day. Sandy Hawthorne also came up 1-for-2 plus drawing the only Hornet walk of the game.

The same two teams will square off tomorrow, Saturday, March 30, at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
