Wow! Hornets sting, win
with seven run comeback

Down 6-0 after 5 innings in the first game of today's Third Annual Osprey Invitational (Jacksonville, FL), against St. Bonaventure Bonnies, The Delaware State Hornets suddenly launched into a buzz saw of a hitting attack.

In the 6th, four singles by Kelsey Doherty, Jennifer Fischback, Nicole Gazzolla, and Chloe Oro, a walk drawn by Ashley Bennett, and a triple by Jordan Stamps suddenly put the game in reach for the Hornets as the Bonnies left the field for the final inning now leading by only 6-3.

In the 7th, the Bonnies went quietly, while the Hornets were swarming. Rochelle Sablay led off the inning with a double followed by a single from Kelsey Doherty. A series of Bonnie errors then allowed a run to score, while Jordan Stamps stepped up to drive in two with a single, which set up Jessica Madrid for her own single to knock in a walk-off winning run!

The Hornets had 15 total hits for the final 7-6 score. Jordan Stamps was 3 for 4 with 4 RBIs,  Kelsey Doherty was 3 for 4, Jessica Madrid was 3 for 5 with 1 RBI and Nicole Gazzolla was 2 for 4 also with 1 RBI.

Winning pitcher Jennifer Fischbach threw 5 innings in relief to allow just 2 Bonnie runs.
